cTrader Copy Investor Guide (Follower)

Updated on August 14, 2025

Welcome! Follow this step-by-step guide to copy a strategy using the cTrader platform.

Step 1: Explore Strategies on the cTrader Platform #

Open the cTrader desktop application and log in with your credentials.

Go to the “Copy” tab and select “Strategies.”

Browse through the available providers and choose the one you’d like to follow. Important: Note the provider’s account currency and leverage — your investor account must match these settings exactly.

Step 2: Create a New cTrader investor Account (Matching the Provider) #

Log in to your SCA Portal (your client area).

Go to the “Trading Accounts” tab.

Click the “+” button to create a new trading account.

Use the following settings:

  • Platform Type: cTrader
  • Currency: Same as the provider’s account
  • Nickname: Any name you prefer for this account
  • Leverage: Must match the provider’s leverage
  • Account Type: Standard

Tip: Double-check the currency and leverage — mismatched settings will prevent you from copying.

Step 3: Fund Your Investor Account #

Go to the “Wallet” tab in the SCA Portal.

Select “Internal Transfer.”

In the transfer form:

  • Source: Your wallet or existing trading account with funds
  • Target: The new cTrader investor account you just created
  • Amount: Enter the desired funding amount

Click “Submit” to complete the transfer.

Step 4: Start Copying the Strategy #

Return to the cTrader platform, under the “Copy” tab.

Click on the strategy you want to follow.

Make sure your investor account:

  • Is funded
  • Has the same currency and leverage as the provider
  • Review the strategy’s details and terms (offer) carefully.

If everything looks good, click “Start Copying” to mirror the provider’s trades.

From here on, your account will automatically copy the provider’s trades based on the strategy terms. You can stop copying anytime from the cTrader interface.

Important notes #

cTrader Copy forbids copying any trades made for symbols representing stocks/shares. While a strategy provider can still place new orders and open new positions for these symbols (e.g., AAPL or TSLA), these trades will not be copied by their investors

The strategy provider’s trades will not be copied by the investor’s copy-trading account in the following cases:

  • The investor’s leverage is lower than the strategy provider’s leverage, and there is a chance that the investor’s free margin will not be enough to copy all the trades of this strategy.
  • There are not enough funds in the investor’s account.
  • The investor does not have the trading instruments that the strategy provider is operating with.
